On a sunny but cool Saturday morning, a hundred Sutton residents took part in the fifth edition of the Défi Sutton Challenge, organized by the Coop gym santé Sutton as part of ParticipACTION's Community Challenge Together We Move , held across Canada from June 1 to 30, 2023.

Of the 100 participants, 57 were under 12, including the youngest, Flora, aged 3. As for the adults, congratulations to Elisabeth, who, at the dawn of her 87th birthday, walked the 3 km course.

A total of 121 starters competed in the following 4 events: 3 km walk and run, 800 and 1,600 metres races and the popular 1,600-metre relay (2 adults/2 children).

Well done to the youngsters who took part in all four events, and congratulations to Rose Bruneau-Lessieur who came 2nd in the 3 km, 800 m and 1,600 m, and to Edan Lamoureux who came 3rd in the 800 m and 1,600 m. In the boys' category, congratulations to Pierre Gaudet, 1st in the 800 m and 2nd in the 1,600 m. Bravo!

The smoothie bike is always a popular post-race activity....each participant pedals to operate the blender that provides a delicious smoothie. What a delight!

The Coop gym santé Sutton would like to thank Édith Dandenault, master of ceremony, IGA Sutton and Alban Houle fruits et légumes for the snacks, the Town of Sutton for the equipment and the twenty-one volunteers who helped make the event a success.

The Défi Sutton Challenge was Sutton's first public event in ParticipACTION's Community Challenge Together We Move Program, and thanks to the participation of 100 residents and 21 volunteers, 4,689 minutes were logged for Sutton, which is coveting first place in Canada.
